As a first-generation student from Mexico, my journey through higher education has been shaped by resilience and a determination to overcome challenges. Navigating these complexities on my own, I’ve learned to embrace each obstacle as an opportunity for growth. Being the first in my family to attend college has instilled in me a sense of independence and perseverance that guides me through academic and personal challenges.
Fluent in both English and Spanish, my bilingualism is a core part of my identity. It drives me to advocate for my community and amplify the voices of underrepresented minorities. Academically, I’ve been recognized as one of the top 100 scholars in a district of over 41,000 students. My passion for media and storytelling began in my youth and has evolved into a focused pursuit of Media Studies at UC Berkeley.
